Her knight in shining armour, er, Daddy, saddled up Snickers for Bub and she went along. Later, she rode Comet the pony on her own.

Her birthday was on a Sunday and she invited her bff :-), cousin Sidda, over for a girls night on Saturday. When the girls got up on Sunday morning this was what greeted them in the living room.

On Sunday afternoon we celebrated in the church basement with family and enjoyed yummy birthday cake. MC's good friend Mrs. Sievers used to operate a baking business out of her home and she makes the yummiest cakes ever. Really. Ever. So she and MC made a half yellow, half extremely chocolatey chocolate birthday cake with butter cream frosting in the birthday girl's colors of choice. WHICH WERE LOUD. And then we plopped some Cinderella characters on top. Check out this smile...and the punch mustache!

Time for presents! Check out these new cowgirl boots. She always gets new boots for her birthday and after we had purchased them she said, "I really want green and pink cowboy boots for my birthday." Panic stricken we looked at one another and asked her, "You mean like camo?" She said, "No, sillies, I mean like tractor green!" Thank heavens. We didn't intend to get the John Deere boots but they were the only ones in her size. See, she wants pink. Dad says they have to be brown. This is not a little girl who wears a pair of boots with a dress once in a while. She wears them every day. Pink would just. not. work. So they have compromised every year and gotten brown boots with pink uppers. Well this year our little bootery out here in the sticks didn't have her size in the boot we normally buy her. So she got lucky and actually got the pair she had apparently had her little her set on anyhow. If you're wondering how she could possibly have her heart set on a pair of boots, well, we buy a lot of boots so she's had plenty of opportunity to peruse the little girl boot section at the bootery! I think they look smashing with the homemade Sleeping Beauty get-up. Note Jachin standing to the left scratching his head. "I just don't understand women."

Check out Sidda. She is not putting on any chapstick but her lips are puckered up just the same! We girls have to help one another in such ways. Keep scratchin your head Jachin!

And finally, the nightgown. MC loves a good silky nightgown. She hoped and hoped that someone would buy her a silky nightgown. Of course Aunt Tracy and cousin Julia came through. And it had horses! This is where the birthday girl swoons and nearly faints from pure joy. She's worn it EVERY NIGHT since the party and puts it on usually by 5:30 or 6:00. Such a girlie girl.

Well, the party's over and our little cowgirl princess has some new charges: Papa brought home 18 bottle calves last weekend. Wow is she ever delighting in that. They all are. Julia and Austin were here for the weekend and they were all in heaven. Well, if heaven has a lot of mud, that is. Those new pink cowboy boots got safely tucked in a bin inside while the black rubber mud boots were used to slop and trudge around in. We're hoping spring is on the way but Uncle Jason says the Farmer's Almanac has accurately predicted every snow storm this winter and predicts one more monster during the month of March. It won't surprise me. But for now, it's in the 40's and 50's and the sun is shining! Bring on the Spring!
